General updates and announcements

  • Open Hour frequency changes
    • Open Hour will now be held every two weeks on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month at 10AM-11AM PDT
    • This schedule change better aligns with the Core Salt team’s sprint development cycle and will allow them to include more feature demos during Open Hour
    • Agendas are published in advance of the meeting in the Salt Project Slack workspace on the #announcements channel
  • Thomas Phipps (new Core Salt member) will monitor our various community forums to better support the community
  • SaltConf21 virtual 2 day event NOV-03 and NOV-04 – https://saltconf.com/
    • Theme: Bigger, Better, Faster, Stronger
    • Registration is free and open now
    • The conference is held online through the Hopin platform
    • The first 500 to register get a free swag box
    • The first 1,000 to register get a free t-shirt

Working group updates

  • Phosphorus release planning is underway
  • Docs working group: Alyssa Rock will take over as the working group captain eventually
    • Alyssa Rock is joining the Salt team as a technical writer in December
    • She’ll take over the documentation working group at that time
    • In the meantime, she is reaching out to members of this working group to talk about future meetings
  • We are rebooting the Kubernetes Salt working group
    • New k8-salt-extension
  • The Windows working group is going to work on SEP 32 if it gets accepted
