Tom discusses SaltStack for public cloud orchestration (AWS, Rackspace, DigitalOcean, OpenStack) via the Salt 0.8.5 release. How Salt users are using Salt to deploy and control any cloud environment.

“Welcome to the tenth installment of Salt Air. Before we get started I’m going to talk a little bit about what’s going to be going on next week. Next week is the Southern California Linux expo for Scale. Salt has a booth! We’re really excited to be there. We’re going to have t-shirts and stickers. Finally, I know we’ve had many requests for sticklers, but yeah we’re going to have t-shirts, stickers, a booth many presentations a lot of people from the community are going to be there, a lot of people are going to be at the booth. I’m going to be there. Really excited about Scale. Another thing that I want to bring up, is that there is a meetup in SanFrancisco for a DevOps SaltStack group and then I’m going to be presenting it on the 20th. They don’t have a venue yet, but if you have any questions about it you can ask the list or you can find it on meetup.com. That’s good stuff coming down the pipe.”

“Really excited about Scale, last year at Scale was the first come first conference that SaltStack went to and first conference I’ve owned a booth at. It was a lot of fun. I met a lot of really good people Salt was definitely in its infancy at that point, had I known where Salt would have gotten to by now, I would have probably been far more intimidated. We’re in a much better position for this for this scale we’ve got a paint booth, we’re going to have some nice science t-shirts and all that stuff, really excited. If you haven’t already got your ticket or lined up going to Scale then plan on it. We’re going to be having a lot of pow wows with a lot of developers. We’re going to be spending a lot of time in presentations. We’re going to be spending a lot of time talking to people about Salt and helping to get that word out. I am endlessly amazed at how few people seem to still know about Salt despite that our community has grown to the massive size that it has and also just the fact that Salt has been deployed in so many places. What we’re going to be talking about today on Salt Air is all about and Salt in the cloud…” – Thomas Hatch
