SaltStack attends SCALE 13 and Salt Virt gets a lot of attention for its potential as a cloud controller.

“It’s time for another installment of Salt air. I’m feeling a little crazy, primarily because I haven’t slept much for a while. We’ve had a really exciting couple of weeks since the last Salt Air. We went to the Southern California Linux Expo over the weekend. We had a sign at our booth. Our booth was incredibly busy, I can’t tell you how exciting it was to have so many people coming to the Salt booth. There was a great talk given by Krista Edwards. I’m going to talk a little bit more about some of the things he’s been doing at scale. We had a fantastic training that was packed, standing room only, another great thing to see. I didn’t sleep much and one of the big things that happened was at Krista’s talk on Saturday at Scale. He mentioned (he gave a talk on Salt cloud) at the end of his talk that I was working on Salt Virt, the thing that I talked about it last Salt Air.”

“Throughout the rest of the conference people would not stop coming up to me saying, “please please when is Salt Virt going to be ready?”. I was kind of surprised by the reaction, to be perfectly honest, I mean I’ve always wanted to put a cloud controller into Salt. I didn’t expect such a positive response for it. I didn’t expect that the demand would be as high or as exciting as it has been. In response to that, I haven’t slept for a while trying to get it up and going. This edition of Salt Air, I’m gonna be talking about all the features, functionality, and general awesomeness that is inside of Salt Virt. With that said it’s still in its infancy, so there is a lot that we still need to get going here. Let me move on over, get my get my recursive tunnel going. Let’s get to talking about Salt Virt and about some of the things have been going on these last couple of weeks. Again, it’s been a very exciting couple of weeks. Salt Air 11 we’re gonna be talking primarily about Salt Virt. I’m gonna be doing some demos, I’m gonna be walking, through how it works, I’m gonna walkthrough how to set up a cloud using Salt Virt 1 and talk about some of the main goals…” – Thomas Hatch
